Red, Like Love

I don't know if it was the deep red long stem roses I got from my sweetie, or the memory of us celebrating a yummy Valentine's Day dinner with our daughter, all in our red shirts or dresses, but I woke up this morning thinking about red art, and I just thought I'd share a few images.

Red Mosaic...Stained glass, vitreous glass tiles, glass gems, tempered glass over acrylic wash and one unglazed ceramic tile on plywood....still not titled.

On the Eve of St. Agnes young girls would look into the village well hoping to see their future husbands.

With its rich colors of ruby and garnet, this mirror gleams with its own romantic spirit. The iridescent pink petals of a flower bloom in the bottom left corner, and a strand of deep red faceted beads runs down the right. This piece was designed to be slightly asymmetrical; the angle of the mirror reflects the slant of the left side of the wood base.

Photographing mirrors and shiny iridescent things can be difficult, so here's a bit of a better idea of the glass:

In counterpoint to all that red:

Edward and I just happened to get each other green M&M's..."Green, the new color of LOVE"...and it happens to be Edward's favorite color too.

(When I searched for this picture, I found that there are websites still pondering the question of whether green M&M's are aphrodisiacs...just like we said in high school. ;-) )

This 24x24" glass mosaic mirror is now at the Artful Hand in Fort Worth. Actually, I am writing this blog post from my Flicker site. I had no idea you could do that, and I just got the 2 sites linked. I had intended to add a link to the Artful Hand gallery, which is on 7th Street in the Cultural District. We'll see how this Flicker to Blogspot posting works.

The mirror is photo-edited out as white, as are all the little rectangular pieces at the top and bottom which are also mirror, and just don't photograph very well.
